    The vast majority of words
    Are so pale and bland,
    When they land
    On a blank page
    You can hardly see them.

    They are not utterly meaningless,
    They remain dim outlines above
    The white noise of empty context,
    The void of ordinary
    Novel spatial settings.

    Yet these dim expressions
    Cannot really rise up
    Out of the thin air
    Which they call
    Their home.

    They assimilate
    With the din of
    Murmuring
    Environmental
    Life forms.

    Other words
    Jump out and
    Grab you.
    These words mean something.
